I've worked for a compassionate vet for 6 years and I want you to know you are appreciated and loved.harleyangelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12367126577369909208noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5481888823138555968.post-39955344844630021132015-04-04T19:21:20.136-05:002015-04-04T19:21:20.136-05:00I agree with anonymous, except that despite all th...I agree with anonymous, except that despite all the drama, backstabbing and general nastiness that goes along with shelter and rescue work, I won't give up on the animals. It isn't their fault that some rescue and shelter people care more about their own egos than they do about the animals. The animals don't care who said what, who hates who are is talking crap about who else. They are happy to see me when I come to the shelter, and I'm happy to see them. We don't save everyone, but I'm thrilled for all the ones who are saved. Compassion fatigue is very real, and there are steps that can be taken to deal with it, even if it's taking time off from what you do for a while. I've never met you, but I so admire what you do and have done. Take care.Denisenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5481888823138555968.post-42445797033676613072015-04-03T09:58:56.391-05:002015-04-03T09:58:56.391-05:00I have spent my entire adult life working with ani...I have spent my entire adult life working with animals. The first8 years as a volunteer and occasional employee of our local shelter. I left the shelter and went into reward based training. After that I went into rescue. I've spent the last 15 years working for various rescues in my city. And after 27 years in the animal advocacy/rescue world, I have come to one conclusion. There are some incredibly WONDERFUL people in this world. Much like you dear Lisa. And the other half are some of the most nasty, judgmental, hateful people I have ever met in all my 52 years on this planet, in any field of work. And those people are the reason why, after 27 years, I will NEVER work with or for a rescue/shelter or training facility ever again. Sorry. I know this isn't what you needed to hear.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
